Dwarven Fathom
The dwarven fathom is more specifically called the Bukalaan Fathom to distinguish it from other dwarven units of depth. The Dwarven Fathom was created in very ancient times in Bukalaa and adapted by the Ithradic Dwarves who spread its use to the Jaggudorns. A dwarven (or Bukalaan) fathom measures exactly 528 English feet or about 161 meters (160.93). Dwarves and civilizations influenced by dwarven subterranean practice employ the dwarven fathom to measure direct distance below the ground from the surface immediately above. This is relative, since the elevation of the surface above sea level varies. For a more universal basis of comparison, the distance may also be measured in relationship (above or below) sea level. Mountain elevation, particularly in the Jaggudorns is often measured in dwarven fathoms. A dwarven fathom is about 125.73 gnödva.
