The Thirteen Ruling Houses of Terub, typically called simply the Thirteen Ruling Houses, are powerful aristocratic dynasties that share power over the Terubian Empire in obedience to the ruling one of their number which at this time is House Lamta. The Thirteen Ruling Houses are bound together by an ancient pact for power administered by devils. The Thirteen Houses are ranked in a hierarchy which can change. Additionally, family membership in the Thirteen Houses can change as some houses are expelled or destroyed and new ones are admitted. The number must always be thirteen.

Each Ruling House has hundreds of vassal houses.
