Proto-Moigthe is the name for the group tribes related ethnically and linguistically who became the Moigthe. Their period is dated from 3,000 AS to 1,000 AS, roughly two thousand years. During this period, the Proto-Moigthe tribes underwent cultural changes from their parent Ersercean Tribes into Moigthe Tribes. Their migrations helped precipitate the collapse of the Malesggite Culture and brought the death blow to the remnants of the Neptultchi (Tuadbe) Civilization, already well into decline. The Migrations of the Proto-Moigthe are part of the overall migrations of Gwenyan Peoples from western central Asdauria into Pytharnia, Vindalia (Lucacia and Corundy), and the Pallathantic Sea.

Westward Migration of the Proto-Moigthe from Erserce into Pytharnia

Many agricultural centers existed in southern Pytharnia, established by the giants and later the Neptultchi. The Moigthe overtook these but remained unwilling or unable to penetrate the dark wolds of Middle Pytharnia, to the north, that endure to this day as the dominion of the sylvan elves.

Dúrandwor was the home of various Geddamin Giant tribes, vassals to the Neptultchi God-King. The coasts consisted of disenfranchised Neptultchi nobles who raised flotillas of pirate ships to pillage the isles of the Pallathantic Sea. At the occasion of the arrival of the Proto-Moigthe Tribes, the giants were in a state of rebellion or emigration and the Neptultchi serf caste (compare Tuadbe) were living in small communities with little or no oversight by the Neptultchi priest and dragon knight castes. About the time of the last wave of Proto-Moigthe, the Kalaman Navy defeated the Neptultchi pirates of the Sea of Forgetfulness, ca 1,900 AS.

Chronology

  • Proto-Moigthe emigrate from Erserce into Ambrulia, some by land, but most by sea, ca. 3,050 AS to 1,900 AS, displacing the native giants and trolls. Erserce has become over-populated for a pastoral, semi-nomadic civilization and also ravaged by wars (Arisparikohos). Migrations into Ambrulia occur in three waves, roughly 3,100 AS, 2,300 AS, and 1,900 AS.
  • Proto-Moigthe, push in great exodus into eastern Pytharnia, under pressure from Ambrulian Proto-Moigthe Tribes, who are in turn under pressure from uhlaks, pressing to the west, ca. 1,450 AS to 950 AS.
  • At this point, ca 1,000 AS, historians regard them as the Moigthe. They continue to migrate westwards across southern Pytharnia, 950 AS to 100 AS.
