The Lawless Wastes is the name given to the region of eastern Weshif where no powerful state holds any sway. This sparsely inhabited region is traversed by nomadic tribes and desert brigands. The northern reaches are called the Titan Wastelands as they are thought to have been the lands of the ancient ruling Titans in legendary antediluvian times. The southern reaches are called the Haunted Wastes. Merchant city-states, Ezgush and Faadh Ehrun rest on the eastern coast along the Sea of a Thousand Curses. The region is surrounded by the Dominion of the Djinn to the west, the tribes of the Adamantine Giants to the north, the Sultanate of Beph-Themesh to the northwest, Rala-Pithur to the west, the merchant city-states to the east, and Dhaalizoond to the southeast.

Politics

Desert sheiks and tribesmen consisting of humans and some half-orcs are the only ones who hold any sort of control over the region. They fight continually among themselves without any one holding any sort of lasting hegemony.

Despite attempts to impose order on the region, it has resisted to this day. The Adamantine Giants and the Djinn for their own purposes prevent other states from establishing any stronghold over the region. The giants and the djinn use the region to promote illegal trade and favor its lawlessness to prevent encroachments from human rulers upon their dominions. Dhaalizoond is not powerful enough to control region and Rala-Pithur does not wish to make enemies of the djinn.

Some observers believe that the Zarajovenish Tribes of Ogdesiana to the north of the Lawless Wastes could conceivably establish and exercise dominion over the region. This would upset the balance of power with the Adamantine Giants, Beph-Themesh, and the Dominion of the Djinn.
