A common name for the lands of the great valley of Lake Vimala, Vimalia is the name of the core region of the Republic of Johaulia. The name stems ultimately from Vimal, the name of the god who is thought to dwell in the lake.
Vimalia has a wet, mediterranean climate and is one of the few mediterranean rainforests on Asdar. It receives the most abundant rain out of all Corundy, due to its high elevation which catches most of the rain. Additionally, the mountains of the plateau capture rainfall and cause much of it to drain into Lake Vimala.
Historically, the city-states of Vimalia were independent or autonomous until roughly the middle of the fourth century (ca 350) AS when they succumbed to the Midrinksi Tribes. Despite subjugation to the Midretassene Empire and subsequently to the Yophenthean Empire, Vimalia and its people have retained their cultural and ethnic distinctions for millennia.
