Arathracian Sanctuaries arose from established fortresses of the Yophenthean Empire and came to serve as auxiliary organizations for the defense of the Arathracian Church in deed and in doctrine, and, ultimately, as a refuge from the forces of Chaos in the Middle Ages.
Many Sanctuaries are designated 'deconsecrated.' This means the place was either abandoned or taken over by another people.
