The Realms of Hell are nine finite primary planes and their associated outlying planes. The nine planes are layered and rest suspended in the Abyss. The ninth and lowest plane, Nessus (Hell), is ruled by the archdevil, Baalrabsheol. The rulers of the nine realms or planes have the ostensible objective of conquering the infinite realms of the Abyss.
The nine planes unlike the Abyss, are finite in size and alternative round and square. Each one is ruled by a respective archdevil in keeping with the rigid hierarchy of hell.
