An unwanted prince governing in behalf of the New Kalikán Empire was labeled a Thrake as an insult. Thrake originally was a neutral ethnic term for persons from Thrace, but over the centuries has become a derisive term for someone of Thracian ancestry. In modern use, a thrake (transliterated with lower-case t) is an overbearing governor imposed by a foreign power.
