The Imzaami Ruler of Shanjahar has been the Khamifa with notable exceptions since the Imzaami conquest of north Zephasia in the fifteenth century. The Khamifa is also the Prince of the Sahmsuel, the psychic warriors who are said to perceive both the world of the living and the world of the dreaming at the same time.
