Common Year
The Common Year is the format for measuring the year now widely in use throughout the Pallathantic and is most easily noted by having fifteen calendar months and nine days of chaos to complete the year. It contrasts with the Arathracian Year, used by the Arathracian Temple and clergy, which has sixteen months, and no such nine days of chaos. The Common Year is ascribed to the teachings of Salmakhamer, although Arathracians believe Salmakhamer actually taught a sixteen month year and that the common year is a corruption developed during the Middle Ages of Chaos. Since the Yophentheans used the Arathracian Calendar for all official dates in their empire within the first millennium after the Coming of Salmakhamer, it is not easy to ascertain the truthfulness of this belief.
