A mystery to ancient Gwenyans and their descendants to this day, the so-called Ghost Mounds of the Shadew River are artificial little mountains built by a forgotten civilization of the Shadew River and claimed as their forebears by the High Shadevan Tribes.

The Ghost mounds, a dozen or more in number, are all within ten miles of the Shadew River. The highest is 120 feet (36m) in height. They are made of earth and stone. In the language of the remnant families of the Shadevan Tribes, the mounds are called 'zha'achem' and are held to be sacred memorials for their ancestors.

The Thracians consider them variously haunted, filled with treasure, or holy to the Elamahti. Anciently, Thracian kings built their palaces of wood on the top of some of the ghost mounds, despite reputed curses.
