Bomach (bomag, bomah) means a high place suitable for worshiping the gods in Yophenthean. The ancient Moigthe word, bomag, is cognate. A 'high place' is prominent hill, often, but not always, with a commanding view of the surrounding area. The change in meaning from a geographic descriptor to religious site occurred over several centuries.
