The chaos goddess of the Waters of Creation is associated with alien beauty and powerful regeneration and her worship is thought to have originated in Shelekhumbia by some scholars. Ishmût was propitiated and honored throughout the Pallathantic Region and Weshif in very ancient times. Priestesses of Ishmût were anciently called Ismutic as was anything pertaining to the worship of the goddess. Ishmutekebessa established a peculiar order of priestesses called the Ismutanes. Ishmutekebessa is one of the most notorious of the worshipers of the goddess.

Ishmût is sometimes depicted as having a large, open, single eye in her opening clitoris. This is thought by some to be symbolic of her rising consciousness, beginning in the lowest chakra (red).

In ancient Shelekhumbia, the mother goddess Hebsheth was worshiped and is thought by some to be the mother of the chaos goddess Ishmût.
