Opaz
The island of Opaz is the largest in the Sungotine Sea and forms the southern boundary of the sea. Opaz is one of the largest islands in the world. The island stretches east west with a mountainous spine running through its center in the same direction as the length of the island. The climate is tropical and the island receives abundant rains in late summer and through the winter. The dominant human tribes are known to the West as the Opazites. Most of the chieftains and rulers of the island pay homage to their emperor who rules from his palace in Ziktagoo.
The island is famous for its many spices, exotic woods, and tropical fruits. The use of exotic seashells and pearls are important for merchants doing business on Opaz or with Opazite merchantes. The island also has mines of silver, tin, and copper.
Dragon Turtle Coast
Along the northwest facing coast of the eastern end of the island stretches the Dragon Turtle Coast, so named for the dragon turtle flotillas that have occasion to frequent it. For this reason, it is often considered dangerous for boats and small ships. The local Opazites are familiar with the dragon turtles and their habits.
