The Age of Ice and Blood is the name given by the dwarves to a prehistoric period thought to have extended over three millennia, ending about ten thousand years ago. The Age of Ice and Blood corresponds to the time roughly after the Flood of Aturyanda. During this time, the dwarves believe that the glaciers advanced and dragons made great depredations among the dwarves and other humanlikes. During this time, the dwarves found refuge in the depths of the earth and became principally subterranean. This is also the time of the great dwarven migrations from Midrardia to Bukalaa and to Pytharnia.

The Age of Ice and Blood has some currency among humans. The Age of Ice and Blood is more often called the Age of Ice and Fire among human scholars. Magdeologers believe there is much evidence in the earth that confirms a period of advancing glaciers some thirteen to ten thousand years ago.
