The Latin term 'Anno Isxinthionum,' "In the year of the Isxinthions," is based by analogy on the Earth term, 'Anno Domini.' The term is abbreviated 'AI' and used to designate years since the Coming of Salmakhamer. Previously, the letters 'IR' or "Isxinthion Reckoning" are used before the creator expanded the historic periods.

The Anno Isxinthionum dating system was created in the 25th century and has become the most widely used dating system in the Greater Pallathantic Region. Prior to modern times, the Yophenthean dating system was used by a plurality of scholars along with numerous other dating systems.
