Archeology is the study of previous civilizations whether human or otherwise by discovering and examining the physical remains of such civilizations, usually in the earth. One who practices archeology is an archeologer. Archeology was first widely recognized as a scientific pursuit in the twenty fifth century (ca 2400's).
