Gliri rests midway in the Pallathantic Sea, close to the coast of Pytharnia.
The island of Gliri is culturally tied to the Ithatians on the south and Moigthe on the north.

Gliri is a large island in the Pallathantic Sea and part of the Republic of Gliri. The island rests off the coast of Pytharnia, between the Maturnian Sea and the Glirt Strait. Gliri is the fourth largest Ithatian Island and the sixth largest of the islands of the Pallathantic Sea. The island enjoys a mild, Pallathantic climate with abundant gentle rains through autumn and winter, with some harsher storms in the winter. The island occasionally receives snow atop the mountain peaks in the winter. The climate is temperate with humid summers. Culturally, Gliri is a mixture of Moigthe and Ithatian peoples with its own dialect of spoken Ithatian. The capital is Istokkos and major cities include Charum, Nebiotumos, Ambystisia, and Musirica. Mountains build up the rocky interior of the island and in ancient times, travelers were more likely to use the sea or the sea coast to travel from one city to another rather than pass through the interior. The largest neighboring island which is also culturally part of Gliri is Phiagglot Island to the southeast. A narrow sound separates Gliri from the coast of Gonfaloy and Tirthia Bay lies just northwest of the island.

Gliri is not part of the Republic of Ithatia, but is the core territory of the Republic of Gliri. Gliri is culturally comprised of Ithatians to the south and Glirts of ancient Moigthe extraction to the north. The demonym, Glirt, means pertaining to Gliri and as a substantive means residents of Gliri. The official language is Ithatian. Gliri has resisted separate invitations to join the Republic of Ithatia and the Empire of Magdala.

The principal industries of Gliri are fishing, shipping, copper mining, timbering, and sheep.
