Johar

Johar is a ruined city lying in the outskirts of the Van Waste, in the Throvian province of Ugornia. During the Middle Ages, Johar was the principle city of the region and renown as the pilgrimage site of the tomb of Saint Agnavaira. It was destroyed in the conflicts known as the Anarch Wars around 2300 AI.

The site is especially sought by adventurers, treasure hunters, and would-be researchers. Unlike Vilangril which is famously forbidden by local authorities, Ugornian provincial authorities have done little to prevent foolish persons from entering it. For this reason and its proximity right on the edge of the Van Waste, it was often targeted by treasure hunters in the twenty seventh century (2600's). In the past fifty years, expeditions and explorations have declined as it thought to have been looted of the best finds. Locals remind visitors that they occasionally see persons enter the city and never see them leave. This is not entirely true as at least one expedition, 2683 to 2684, sponsored by the Magitechnic Institute of Aurice, returned with data for scientific research and magical studies.
