Lake Lisgoria is the largest of seven inland bodies of water on continental Pytharnia and it is also the southernmost. The Lake rests among the frontiers of the Archduchy of Asbardy, the Commonwealth of the Ithrads, Ategonia, the Archpatriarchy of Ambrasia, and the lands of the Autonomous Kemerite Giant Tribes. The three nations whose bounds actually enclose the shores of the Lake, the Ithrads, Ategonia, and Ambrasia, are committed to protect the indigenous creatures of the lake and respect the cult of its divinity, Chorchas. The gnomes of Ategonia are thought to be the most ancient inhabitants on the shores of the Lake.

The lake rests in a temperate zone and receives abundant rainfall and its shores are well-wooded, due to the preservation efforts of gnomes, dwarves, and interested humans.

As with all bodies of water in Pytharnia and elsewhere in the World of Asdar, Lisgoria is associated with a powerful local divinity. Unlike most lake gods of Pytharnia which are male, Chorchas /ˈxɔrˌxas/ is notoriously androgynous. It is thought this may be due to elements of the gnomish cult and other pre-Gwenyan practices. Gnomes, Kemerite Giants, and humans, typically Tuadbe are the principal practitioners of the Cult of Chorchas.
