The civilizations of Corundy are several and ancient. The languages of the longest residence in Corundy are the Jathya-Dhumi tongues which descend from the ancient Kalaman language. In Johaulia, the Jaithan Language is spoken almost universally while Kushriri is the dominant language of the Free Republic of Rhiony and the Duchy of Zavie. Kushriri is a minority language of Smiago, Tiomaire, and Numiria. There is some degree of mutual intelligibility between Jaithan and Kushriri. Ithatian, specifically Peninsular Ithatian, is the next oldest language and is spoken as a very well-represented minority language in Dauneia, Barraine, and Strubia. Tassan along with Throvian are the heirs of the Midretassene Language, the tongue spoken by the ancient rulers of the Midretassene Empire. Tassan is the language of the Zamir Provinces with Throvian spoken in the coastal cities, mainly by merchants and administrators and their families from Throvy. Ferruvicarese is spoken in a small portion of southeast Corundy. Finally, Corundian Language, a Yophenthean language, is spoken in southern and western Corundy. It is also the namesake of the Corundian Peninsula.
