These are aristocratic houses which do not have a hereditary seat in the Senate. Nearly all of them are Metropolitans or lower ranking aristocrats. Dukes, counts, and barons are rarely lacking in senatorial office. This list only includes active Houses and does not include defunct houses. Causes for a Metropolitan House losing its senatorial status include some horrible crime of the patriarch, but not of the heir, such as bladewringing, support of House Bijäl during the Aurician Revolution, or failure to maintain the wealth requirement. Some Metropolitan Houses were deemed too loyal to Bijäl and sent into exile after the Battle of Kadraskan by decree of the Noble Senate.
