Aurice is home to over two thousand taverns, inns, bistros, and restaurants, according to the municipal government's registry. As with any such gamut of merchants, the buyer should shop with care to secure the tavern that best meets his budget and travel needs. All these facilities provide dining of some sort or another and many also provide lodging. While taverns are not the best way to meet complete strangers, they provide a great way for strangers to meet locals.
The pricing indicators measure from one to seven gold coins. One to two coins is about what the working class can afford. It's probably too much for agricultural workers, unless they save up. Three to four coins is typical for merchants and professionals. Five coins and up indicate the lifestyle of the upper class which encompasses aristocrats, visiting diplomats of high rank, wealthy merchants, and high-ranking officers of corpora mercia. Wealthy adventurers fit into this class at least economically, but socially, they will be spurned. Establishments ranked five coins and higher will definitely have some sort of dress code, even if it is unofficial. The cost of Lodging indicates the most common type available. Some establishments with lodging ranked at "3 gold coins" may also have four or five gold coin lodging available, too. As with real estate on Earth, the location can make a great difference. Taverns and inns in close proximity to the Ugorth Dragonrail Station will be ranked two coins higher than normal due to their convenience for travelers.
This list is not complete. Even a complete list with all officially registered taverners and inns would fail to give all the informal places of lodging that are available by word of mouth, especially during the Games of High Summer on the first day of the new year.
