The Overlordship of Gorcorumb is the official name of the state of Gorcorumb. This was its name during its great empire and since its attrition and decline. The Overlord is the sovereign ruler who governs the state within the customs and laws of dominion. Typically, one of the noble houses of Gorcorumb will possess the Overlordship and its chief person will actually exercise the office of Overlord, acting with the advise and consent of the Senate of the Grand Magi of Gorcorumb and the Hall of Lords of Gorcorumb. His appointed heir must be approved by the Hall of Lords and is titled the Prince of the Ephysgæes who is often, but not always, the crown prince of the same ruling house.

List of Components of the Government of Gorcorumb

Overlord

The Overlord is the supreme ruler of Gorcorumb. He appoints various offices, functions as the head of state, commands the military of Gorcorumb, and presides over the Hall of Lords.

Senate of the Grand Magi

The Senate of the Grand Magi comprises all the consummate wizards in good standing. Each grand mage has demonstrated a superior degree of excellence. Historically, only nobles were permitted, but this soon become impossible as arcane excellence did not closely follow the aristocracy. The Senate accepts new members with the approval of the Overlord. The Senate governs the practice of formal magic in Gorcorumb and appoints chief officers whose principle function is magical, with the consent of the Overlord.

Prince of the Ephysgæes

The Prince is the designated heir to the Overlord, chosen by the Overlord and approved by the Hall of Lords. The Prince is not always, but often, the crown prince of the Overlord's House.

Hall of Lords

The Hall of Lords consists of all the high noble lords in good standing.

Assembly of Warriors

The Assembly comprises all the warriors of the fighting class who are adults. They are not necessarily the leaders of their given households and are broadly similar to hereditary knights.

Commoners' Chief

The Commoners' Chief is the commoner selected by the common houses to represent them before the government.
