According to the legendary history[1], the Kalaman goddess, Zhokrihi, led King Jairutthala to the site on an island in the Strait of Embol which joins the Pallathantic Sea with the Memnosian Sea. Over the next seven millennia, the city was variously independent and subject to the rulers of mainland Kalama.
