The Terubian Empire is ruled from the great city of Terub in the land of Akuba. Vast, sprawling, and authoritarian, it reaches across nearly half of the World of Joturnia, largely centered in the southern hemisphere which is the warm region of Joturnia. Akuba is the core territory and the capital city looks across the Strait of Four Peninsulas. Surtsa, Akuba, Gamsabia, Gugia, Daushra, Mandragoria, and now recently, Kathmalaä are directly ruled. Beyond these lie several client states, bringing lands under the power of Terub to well over half the surface area of the world. Client lands include most of Ligdo, Heo, most of Saktiya, northern Salaya, Tumoturia, and Falmigir. Additionally, the empire maintains numerous outposts on many of the Luminary Worlds. The Frost Lands of the cold, snowy northern hemisphere continue to lay outside its power.

Origins of Terubian Empire

The Terubian Empire arose nearly two thousand Joturnian years ago (about 1790 before present), from the ruins of the Neo-Thavidian Empire. The present ruler, Sheba of House Lamta, consolidated her power in the Albartha Campaigns which included the formal annexation of Kathmalaä. The modern times are widely recognized as the Age of Sheba.

Thirteen Ruling Houses

The thirteen ruling families of Terub are comprised of practiced and powerful sorcerers who are widely held to be descended from liaisons between humans and mighty devils. For this reason, tiefling-like traits among the populace of Terub are not uncommon and tieflings, that is descendants of devil-human unions, are not treated with fear and hatred to the degree that they are in other worlds and in other parts of the World of Joturnia. The thirteen ruling families are infamous for their Pact of the Ruling Houses of Terub, made about 1740 years before present.

Zakiya

The core territories of the empire are subject to the law known as Zakiya which is administered by judges known as the Shabdah and by lawyers known as the Zakeem. Zakiya developed over the past six centuries. An authoritarian code, Zakiya, holds persons to account according a strict caste system.

Titanships

Despite the dry climate of most of its lands, the empire thrives by importing water in space around the companion world of Mithgorne. Imperial water tankers capture water and bring it to imperial cities, most notably Terub to slake the continual thirst of millions of imperial subjects.

Titanships are used by Terub’s vast array of military forces to rule its empire. In the World of Joturnia, titancraft has been used widely for the past three centuries and it is deemed by observers to be in a somewhat superior state of development to the world of Asdar. Terubian titanships are able to be piloted into the thin atmosphere that reaches between the companion worlds of Joturnia-Mithgorne and its twelve inhabitable moons known as the luminary worlds.

Campaigns of Expansion

Efforts to conquer the Frostlands of the northern hemisphere have largely failed, due to logistics and the fierce independence of the various barbarian tribes. Additionally, the savage and snowy winters are quite daunting to the inhabitants of the desert south.

Imperial Government

The Terubian Empire is divided into hundreds of satrapies and vice-royalties. Each satrapy and vice-royalty is dependent upon the imperial throne. The Terubian bases on the Luminary Worlds are under the leadership of military governors.
