Thrysto is a country on the northern coast of Danona which is part of the traditionally named Bestial Coast due to the prominence of non-human humanlikes. The government of Thrysto is a federation of human and humanlike communities which meet in Assarion. It is one of the few examples of a coalition government of humanlikes and humans. Humans are principally of Ebinóëse, Ithatian, and Thyrian stock. Humanlikes consist of half-orcs, bucentaurs, gishaks, sea giants (Nuahmidir), merfolk, halfling colonies (Mimbbuke), and quirth. There are also about five Gorcorumbese Geddamin families that chose to remain residents of Thrysto after it was liberated from the Gorcorumbese Empire. The federation is unified by a common cult of the goddess Dáunau whose temple is in Assarion. The oath of federation of the various communities was sworn by the delegates before the temple in 2693 when Thrysto gained its independence from the Gorcorumbese Empire. Thrysto has no unifying native language and, oddly enough, communication between the various communities is often done in the Gorcorumbese Language.

Thrysto and environs in northern Danona

Thrysto is a warm country with a Mediterranean climate. It faces north-northwest towards the Fecund Sea and is bounded on much of its south-southeast border by Lake Dis which separates it from Heruliconia. Most of Thrysto's rains come from the sea to the north in winter. Thrysto's vegetation is scrub and drought-resistant plants.

Thrysto is not a signatory nation of the Accord of the Princes of Law and for this reason does not have normal diplomatic relations with some countries in the Pallathantic Region. Thrysto has regular relations with the Siulian Empire, Heruliconia, and New Phionace.

Thrysto's economy is largely agricultural. The eating of cows is illegal in most of Thrysto as part of concessions to the bucentaurs and minotaurs, so most bovine cattle are used for dairy production. Pearl farming is a minor concern compared to the neighboring islands, but there is a thriving pearl market in Assarion. Thrysto is the historic center of product for Imridsul. Thrysto produces several famous wines and has an ongoing extraction program for its silver mine.
