Thykomian Revolt

During the Sewdhaine War, Ithatian loyalists in Aurice's Thykomian Provinces revolted in 2668. When Aurice crushed the Ithatian Navy in the Battle of Tisponios Reef (2670) (not to be confused with the Battle of Agapsion Reef (2670), the Thykomian Insurgents went into hiding. After the Peace of Amyrn (2671), Aurice restrained itself from crushing the insurgents to avoid appearing tyrannical and possibly inspiring its mainland provinces to revolt. Aurice used subterfuge and assassination to eliminate the leaders of the insurgency or to compel them to emigrate to Merethaia.

Some Ithatian historians contend, however, that Aurice's secret agents fomented the revolt in Thykomia so as to draw Ithatia into the war. Aurice benefited from the war as Asbardy recognized Aurice's claim to Cisalpine Agogia and Ithatia lost its mainland provinces in Corundy where Aurice sought greater influence and commerce.

The overwhelming victory of the Aurician navy at the Battle of Tisponios Reef is one of the reasons that contributed to the Peace of Amyrn as other nations feared that Aurice would use the conflict as a pretext to conquer Ithatia.

The Thykomian Revolt corresponded in time with the Second Streionian War (2668 to 2671). The centaurs of Streionia saw that Aurice was engaged in many wars in Asdauria and the uprising in the Thykomian Islands and wanted to rebel from the Aurician Empire. Streionia was not officially subject to Aurice, but had fought an earlier First Streionian War (2651 to 2657) in anger against Aurice's imperial expansion in Asdauria and particularly its war against fellow centaurs of Eloaria and Turgosia.
