Amísbë's Revolution
The failed coup d'état by the Bijälians to reinstate the Grand Duchy of Aurice under their control is known as Amísbë's Revolution, 2632 to 2634, and was ultimately foiled at the Battle of Kadraskan, 2634.
So called after the duplicitous concubine who assassinated the Lord Governor-General of Aurice in 2632 in behalf of her fratricidal lover, Grand Duke Rhungast Bijäl, this abortive ‘revolution’ failed to restore Aurice to House Bijäl and solidified the Noble Republic’s independence.
After the poisoning of Grand Duke Rhungast Bijäl, Rhoglos Bijäl, the House wizardmaster, Steborn Hallagunst, and the householders fled Aurice to Agogia when the Senate refused to acknowledge Rhoglos as Grand Duke. But Amísbë Almikkis stayed in Aurice and pretended to support the revolution, professing abuse at the hands of Rhungast Bijäl. In fact, she was secretly in contact with the Bijälians and ingratiated herself with the household of the newly chosen Lord Governor General. She got close enough to murder Lord Governor-General Yaven Calchamas in 2632 so that the Bijälians, adherents of House Bijäl (former supporters of Rhungast) took over the palace and made ready for Rhoglos to return from Agogia.
In Agogia, the Bijälians, having planned their return which came about six years later in 2632 with Amísbë's Revolution. Rhoglos died in 2634 at the age of about forty four at the Battle of Kadraskan. His son, Stallos (born 2615, about 19 years old in 2634) had remained in Agogia and fled into permanent exile in Barathorn.
Some scholars believe the Kalikán supported "Amísbë's Revolution," with the hope that the restored Grand Duke would enable the sons of the defeated Thracian rulers of the Pallathantic to restore their Empire. Others say that the Kalikán hated the Bijäls for their treachery and would have enjoyed seeing the destruction of House Bijäl.
