A calphust is a prehistoric creature probably similar to a hermit crab, but of enormous size, as much as and 22 meters long (72 feet) and 12 meters (40') high. Calphustic Caverns are hollowed out spaces below the earth or the bottom of coastal shallows that were created by the former presence of one of these creatures. These caverns are found in the intertidal and formerly intertidal zones of the Pallathantic-Memnosian Sea. They are known to exist beneath the bottom of the Aurician Lagoon.
