The dwarven codpiece became an important component of dwarven male attire in the first millennium before Salmakhamer in the Ithrads. Its fortune as a vanity fashion accessory has waxed and waned over the centuries and its use has become standard among aristocrats and military officers of the Ithrads and some aristocratic dwarven families of the Jaggudorns. The codpiece is almost always metallic and hammered into relief that represents the device of the aristocratic house, aristocratic master, or regiment. Commoners and non-military dwarves today generally do not wear codpieces. The classic shape of the codpieces is a flat conic shape.
