Giant Isles
The Giant Isles are three islands that rest in the Pallathantic Sea south of the southwestern tip of Pytharnia between the Golden Sea and Giants Sea. The climate of the islands is a wet mediterranean climate with abundant rains from rain systems forming over the seas. The interior are covered with small mountains and small forests.
They are called the Giant Isles after the Pytharnian Giants who settled the island since very ancient times and used the islands as a refuge from Neptultchi and Moigthe migrations on the continent of Pytharnia. The three largest isles are Amelkas Island, Sigully Island, and Fese Island. Giants continue to be a major portion of the islands' population. Humans inhabit cities on the coast, but giant villages are found throughout the islands. Today, the giants are subject to the Archduchy of Asbardy. The islands are strategically located for commerce and have several Asbardian naval bases.
History
Pytharnian Giants settled the islands sometime after the Flood of Karuthaya. The Giant Isles were never subject to the Neptultchi or the Moigthe. The islands were conquered by the Yophenthean military system in 319 AI and organized into the province of Smiasaragda. During the Yophenthean Empire, the islands, called Smiasaragda, "Three Isles", were changed into military bases where Yophenthean rulers trained giants as auxiliary soldiers to defend and expand their empire.
