Map of the High Deserts of central Asdauria

Shahaz is a vast, largely unoccupied region in the remote interior of the great continent of Asdauria that includes numerous 'High Deserts'. Additionally, great salt seas and the Chalcidian Wilds comprise this dangerous region of Asdar. The deserts are known for their freezing temperatures in the winter, sweltering summer temperatures, and dearth of precipitation. Regions of the High Deserts include Achederia, the Chalcidian Wilds, the Danzercouphtan Desert, the Sarvandif Wastes, the Talizar Desert, and the Jusher Wastes. The great region is bounded by three large bodies of water, the Amshoori Sea, the Chrysopolite Sea, and the Sea of a Thousand Curses which separates the High Deserts from Weshif and Ukelia. Huge caravans have traversed the High Deserts since ancient times and great numbers are thought to be essential to survive the rigors and ambushes otherwise inflicted upon small groups. The caravans assiduously avoid travel during summer in certain parts of the desert.

Shahaz has remained largely undeveloped and unexplored as caravans and skycraft generally avoid the region whenever possible. Merchants prefer to sail their wares via the Sea of a Thousand Curses especially during periods of history when it is relatively free of pirates on the route known as the Great Silk Highway. Sky merchants will take a great route north of Shahaz to reach Sungo
