Humans are one of the most widespread humanlike species on the world of Asdar. Humans are found in nearly every clime but they prefer the coasts and the plains where they can create commercial and agricultural centers to support their populous cities. They are rare in the polar regions and rare in the depths of the earth, but abundant in temperate, alpine, nordic, mediterranean, tropical, savannah, steppe, semi-tropical, and present in deserts. Humans are highly adaptable. They worship historically powerful divinities, practice magic, have excellent energists among their numbers, and develop titancraft. Perhaps greatest among human assets is the ability to form highly cohesive social structures. Warfare among human nations sadly is one of their greatest weaknesses and the irresistible lure of power.

Human influence waned in relatively recent history prior to the Middle Ages of Chaos, but underwent a resurgence due to the use of Chaos magic and, ironically, the subsequent transformation of human civilization of the Pallathantic from its basis in chaos cults to its reformation into lawfulness by means of the Isbajutha.

Human Dominance Compared to Other Humanlikes

Humans are at present time the dominant species of humanlikes on the world of Asdar. Despite their near hegemony, humans do not rule the globe, but share control with other humanlikes, especially dwarves and elves whom they accept on something of an equal stance. Elves are the leaders in many woodlands and the cultural icons of Sungo. Dwarves are predominant in the Jaggudorns and other mountains regions, preferring the depths of the earth. Orcs while despised are dominant in central Danona, Izibjaal, southern Orrhymby, and in places of the New World of Asdar. Giants are common in mountainous plateaus, preferring the rugged surface, and also in small groups in the thick woodlands of northern Pytharnia.

Human Origins

In the West, there are two competing schools of thought for the origin of humans on the world of Asdar. The traditional theory until modern times was the Autochthonist School which holds that humans came into existence on the world of Asdar. This school accepts that the Titans may have had a great role in the development of humans, but that humans are ultimately the creation of this world. The Titanist School contends that humans were brought to Asdar by the Titans who themselves are not native to the world. This is the main point of contention, whether humans are indigenous or not and it has all manner of political ramifications among the humans and with other humanlikes, especially those who dislike the humans' imperialist aspirations. There's some room in between the two camps with the Mixochthonist School that has gained some credibility in the past ten years. The Mixochthonist School holds that Titans brought exocosmic humans who interbred with indigenous humans.
