Map of the Continent of Danona

The insular continent of Danona [anglicized pronunciation: /dəˈnoːnə/] is rimmed with warm rains and wilds around a dry and merciless core. The name Danona comes from the name of the goddess Dáwan, the Queen of the Mermaids whose submerged city of Siul rests in the Pallathantic Sea just north of her namesake continent. In a way, although Danona is one continent, it has at least two souls. One face juts to the north and the northeast where winter rains from the Pallathantic Sea make a Mediterranean clime like Greece or the Levant. The other face bakes in the interior of a trackless desert of dunes and rocky bluffs where Jykki Orcs range in the heart of Jhaadi Zhumzhur, the orcish empire. The dry climate is arrested in the far western peninsula with rains from the ocean and here the skyfaring Zarajoveni make their nation. On the coast of southwestern Danona, the Incarnandist Shaphrizite Tribe of Jerushabla have immigrated and settled the Kingdom of Oliblish.

The many countries and tribes of Danona's north coast contribute a rich portion to the diversity of the Pallathantic Nations and humans are often a minority in these lands where humanlikes are often the dominant inhabitant.

Asdarography

From Danona juts a peninsula of land to the northeast into both the Memnosian Sea and the Pallathantic Sea. The great and squarish end of this peninsula has the geographic name of Ambrinqua and it corresponds roughly to the modern bounds of the Gorcorumbese Empire of the Ephysgæes. This portion is acknowledged as the most civilized of Danona. The lands of Ebinóë and Khesheph continue subject to the dominion of the Geddamin Giants and hope for liberation.

The largest chain of mountains in Danona are the Massady Geth Mountains that reach east-west across the northern portion, but still far south of Ambrinqua. These mountains, the Massady Geths, divide the parched interior from the wetter coasts of the north. Thrysto, Heruliconia, Rhonia, and the Siulian Empire govern these lands where merfolk, minotaurs, bucentaurs, satyrs, and other wild therianthropes (human-beast crosses) freely live. The Strait of Ummak separates the continent of Danona from Weshif which is part of the continent of Asdauria.

Dragonrail Service

Danona has limited dragonrail service. There are two state-run lines. Jerushabla has service in eastern Danona and Zarajove has service. The Gorcorumbese have a policy of no dragonrail service as historically they relied on air transport to keep their subjects limited.
