The Marshes of Baihu rest among several lakes in High Pytharnia.

The Marshes of Baihu are an expanse of wetlands resting between Lake Taungas and Lake Thrundgally in High Pytharnia. The largest lake within the marshes is Lake Kesweka. The Marshes are largely very wet grasslands with occasional swampy bosques of water-loving trees. There are several large streams that drain into the numerous lakes. The mean elevation of the marshes is rather flat and very few points reach more than two hambdda (ca 20m or 66 feet) above the mean elevation. The marshes are rich in wildlife and often a hunting destination for leisure sportsmen. Despite this allure, many places in the marshes are wild and dangerous for inexperienced persons. The land is part of the Empire of Magdala and is the homeland of the indigenous Lizardfolk and also home to gishaks and quirth tribes. Magdalan Principalities in the marshes include the March of Dagscarre, the Duchy of Lehélindur, the March of Tirith-Nohire, the March of Esgionu, the County of Riohornish, the Duchy of Preaguish, the Viscounty of Ulvedain, the County of Yeoth-Hurion, the County of Vedain, and the Duchy of Leolevain. There are three imperial chartered cities in the marshes, K'sangt'o, Sogek, and Tasek. The largest human city in the marshes is Ombrilly. The marshes are over-passed by three orbits of the Medibgóëse Skynesses. In the winter, the marshes are blanketed with fog, sometimes rather dense.

In addition to intelligent creatures such as humans, halfings, quirth, gishak, hyrseka, Disdrirn Trolls, ogres, Esmamidir (Swamp giants), and the iconic lizardfolk, the marshes are home to frogs, turtles, many species of waterfowl, storks, owls, beavers, wolves, lynxes, mice, elk, the very rare smigorphrath, and the solitary centomagus.
