Lake Thrundgally is one of seven large freshwater lakes in Pytharnia. It shares its place in the Pytharnian Highlands with the Marshes of Baihu, Lake Cailibnecha, and Lake Kasgo. Its western shores are marshy and much of its water is received from the Marshes of Baihu as well as from the bountiful rain of the temperate climate in which it is found. Lake Thrundgally rests entirely within the jurisdiction of the Empire of Magdala. Its divinity, Gallyo, is sacred to the Lizardfolk, Kemerite Giants, the Tuadbe, the fishfolk, and the local Magdalan descendants of the ancient Moigthe.

Lake Thrundgally rests in High Pytharnia between the Marshes of Baihu and the Magdalanate and is the fourth or fifth largest body of water in Pytharnia.

The Thrundgally is part of the greater Nystasy River drainage basin of the Pytharnian Highlands. Several rivers drain into the Thrundgally. The Upper Hyndurnuse River drains out of the Thrundgally and feeds into the Nystasy River. The Lake serves as a critical trade link between the interior of Pytharnia, especially the Skelkast Forest, and the Pallathantic Sea by means of the Hyndurnuse River.

Towns and Cities

The shores of Lake Thrundgally are home to several settlements, including Drandin to the north, Hernoyel, Pentrudel, Seludin Nasgoffa, and Lirithgrain. Not resting on the shore, but within close distance are the Arathracian Sanctuary of Shiaglo, Iffrigladin, Ombrilly, Tresper, and Osgairn Truave. The holy town of Iffrigallyaherra rests at the exit mouth of the Upper Hyndurnuse River.

Gallyo

The divinity Gallyo is recognized as the numinous manifestation of the lake. He has been worshiped since deep antiquity. His principal festival is in early spring when worshipers and well-wishers ride colorfully painted boats and ships on his waters from his temple in Drandin to Iffrigallyaherra, at the exit mouth of the Upper Hyndurnuse River. The lake god is honored with offerings of sweet cakes.
