Defying the visible laws of nature, an immense disk floats several hundred meters above the surface of the inland Sea of Sleeping Gods in the eastern end of the Great Forest of Khambakhand in Asdauria. The Saikusahi people have lived here for nearly three thousand years. The disk is called Gakasane.

Gakasane is thought by scholars and mythologers to have been created in deep antiquity by the titans about the same time that the Great Skynesses of Medibgö were created. It is a truly colossal disk over one hundred miles in diameter with a central circular hole and four satellite disks attached to its edge, each of which corresponds with one of the four cardinal directions. A magical force similar to the Twriagdówrch in Medibgóëse skynesses moderates windspeed, air temperature, and possibly other climatic factors. Unlike the skynesses of Medibgö, Gakasane does not seem to orbit, but remains in situ above the surface of the Sea of Sleeping Gods. For this reason, much of the waters of the sea are permanently frozen as they receive little or no sunlight even in the day. It is thought that the great circular hole in the middle of Gakasane was created to admit sunlight to help warm the waters of the Sea of Sleeping Gods.

The Saikusahi tribes migrated by the use of skycraft during the second and third centuries after Salmakhamer. During this time, Gakasane was inhabited by wild beasts and ruled by numerous Oni. The chieftains of the Saikusahi Tribes gradually defeated the oni and tamed the disk to create their home. They found ruined palaces for people of great stature and their legends recount that Gakasane was once inhabited by giants.
