Glaike Peninsula
The Glaike Peninsula (sometimes called 'Glaikish Peninsula') is the southern region of Barathorn with a temperate, maritime climate. The peninsula is surrounded directly by the Leaping Sea and has access to the Mathareusan Sea and the Pytharnian Sea. The Glaike Peninsula is home to two states, the Kingdom of Glaye and the Skymark Commonwealth. The Republic of Gonsk is just north of the peninsula and the Gulf of Gonsky is northwest. The Guspan Bay rests along the northeast coast of the Glaike Peninsula and the peninsula is connected to Barathorn in the north. The two largest lakes on the peninsula are Lake Satrimone and Lake Uphraine. The peninsula has four large forests. The largest mountains are the South Skrall Mountains in the northeast which form the asdarographical basis for the border between Glaye and the Skymark. The longest river is the Sewse River.
Before the arrival of the Colnorian Tribes from the Jaggudorns, the land was populated with indigenous Nephershut people. Scholars know little about the language and culture of these people. In the first millennium before Salmakhamer, a coalition of tribes from the Jaggudorns migrated into Dewyddair, north of the peninsula. Over the following centuries, these skyfaring gontha-herders slowly spread into the peninsula pushing out the remnants of the Nephershut people. These skyfaring tribes paid homage to the Great Sky King of the Mipnors but were not under his direct rule. The Glaike Peninsula was anciently conquered and became part of the Yophenthean Empire. The Glaikish Language, spoken in most of the peninsula, is a Yophenthean language. During the Yophenthean Successor States, the Glaike Peninsula was the Priest-Kingdom of Sthurbia until it fell to the power of the Kingdom of the Skymark. The precursor to the Kingdom of Glaye formed during the late Middle Ages of Chaos.
The predominant language of the peninsula is Glaikish. In the portion to the northeast that is part of the Skymark, the Dewyddairsh Language prevails. The Glaike Peninsula along with Dewyddair is the most densely populated region of Barathorn.
