Aurician Annexation of Erserce
In 2561, Viceroyal Duke Baimund Kaligär of the Thracian Empire annexed the then Vice-royal Duchy of Erserce, making it a subject dominion to the Duchy of Aurice. The appointed vice-royal duke of Erserce has fallen prey to assassination earlier that same year. Subsequent palace intrigue in Thrace prevented a new vice-royal duke from being appointed and installed in a timely manner and Kaligär, believing the monarchy to be too distracted and weakened by other conflicts, seized the northern dominion and established a puppet governor and military control. The King of Thrace was reluctant to outlaw Baimund Kaligär, fearing that the now powerful Duke would become an enemy. However, his ministers and war commanders prevailed.
Thrace in 2562 outlawed Baimund Kaligär and appointed a new vice-royal duke for Erserce and for Aurice. Kaligär defeated the appointee for Erserce in 2565 in personal combat. The appointee for Aurice avoided Kaligär.
