Blue Sea
The Blue Sea encompasses a wide-mouthed bay in the tropics known for its azure blue brilliance in the sun. The Blue Sea is nearly at the equator. The climate is hot and moist with very high humidity throughout the year and frequent thunderstorms. It rests along the west coast of Zephasia and in it is found the western annex of the Grand Canal of Benjalay, thus enabling passage between east and west, from the Turtle Sea into the Chaos Sea which is part of the greater Askonian Ocean. Today the Blue Sea is of immense commercial importance as it opens up to the Grand Canal of Benjalay. Its waters are patrolled by the navy of the Ishaamate of Benjalay which depends on revenues generated from passage through the Grand Canal for much of its sustenance. Since the completion of the Canal in 2718, piracy has been nearly eliminated in the Blue Sea.
