Dagunyami
The Dagunyami are the bugbears of the Jaggudorns, the Disdrire, and elsewhere. Dagunyami males stand about 2.18m (7'2") high and usually can live up to 43 years, although they frequently suffer a violent death sooner in the harsh environment of the wild Jaggudorns, especially among their own kind. Dagunyami are brutish creatures with large, leathery pointed ears, fangs, hairy faces, hairy backs, and hairy arms, with large claws on hands and feet. Dagunyami have muscular bodies.
Dagunyami prefer smaller social groups of families (3 to 24) and small clans (20 to 200). They generally do not form cohesive tribes, although they rarely are brought into subjection by a powerful overlord dagunyami or mercenary leader. Dagunyami will form small groups of typically male warriors (about 2 to 5) on extended hunts for as long as a month in the wilds of the Jaggudorns. They seek large prey for themselves and their clan, including moose, deer, and gamudh. Dagunyami speak their own variant of the Gakhyami Language.
The largest Dagunyami settlement is S'agondeel which is the center of their cult to the hunting god, Shagushagu.
The Dagunyami are the principal humanlike inhabitants of the plateau named after them. Trolls, ogres, dakklamidir (mountain giants), and other gakhyami also dwell on the plateau. Asdaran dragons are occasional visitors, especially on hunting trips for prey. The Dagunyami practice herding of gontha and have adopted traditional skycraft from humans in the Jaggudorns. They herd patchudeek and sometimes gamudh as beasts of burden and food. The Dagunyami live in small settlements and subsist upon hunting and herding. In ancient times, they made raids against the humans to the south, especially with skycraft in the second and first centuries before Salmakhamer.
