Community of Jephuzite Monks
The Incarnandist Community of Jephuzite Monks was founded in 2578 AI and is based in the Fortress of Black Thunder in the eastern Massady Geth Mountains north of the Plateau of Midiantir. The Order was established partly as a consequence of the conclusion of the Fourteenth Isbajath which was contemporary to the Fourth Geddamin War. The founder was Jephuz kab Qamirah also known as Jephuz the Lame (Jephuz hel-Kakhúr). The order has started small colonies throughout the eastern Massady Geth Mountains with mixed success. The autonomy of the monastery has been acknowledged by the Overlord of Jhaadi Zhumzhur and by his subject king of Midiantir.
The order is led by the headmaster who is chosen by the masters of whom there are as many as twenty four. Under the masters are several teachers.
The mission of the monastery is to train the righteous and protect the faithful, especially Incarnandist pilgrims en route to Oliblish and Incarnandist envoys from Oliblish to other countries of the Pallathantic and elsewhere.
The monastery is largely self-sustaining, but receives donations from the faithful abroad to help continue its mission. The monastery raises sheep, goats, and objutes, and additionally employs camels for transportation across the desert. The monastery teaches the precepts of the Incarnandist Religion, the practice of the order, along with combat and psychist skills. Despite the recognition of the Jykki Overlord, Jykki and half-jykki bandits are a periodic danger to the safety of the community.
The monastery is based in the Fortress of Black Thunder. The village of Dawdra rests to the south of the fortress and has about two hundred inhabitants. Smaller communities of the Jephuzite monks exist elsewhere in the Massady Geth Mountains, in Oliblish, and in Thyria.
Fortress of Black Thunder
The fortress rests on a prominent ridge on a spur of the Massady Geth Mountains. The ridge is called the Shoulder of Qamuth, named after a legendary giantess from deep antiquity. The fortress is much older than the Jephuzite Order and historically controlled trade between the Great Jawachi Wastes and the greener lands of northern Danona. To the west of the Fortress rises the Valley of the Two Storm Giants into the Massady Geth Mountains. In this valley, the Jephuzite monks herd and pasture their sheep.
