Shirdhain Lumeais
Shirdhain Lumeais [anglicized pronunciation: /ˈʃirðən ˈlumɨʃ/] is the name of large peninsula which was anciently dominated by the walled city of Bryndyd. Archeologers believe evidence shows that it has been inhabited continuously since at least the eighth millennium before Salmakhamer. The oldest finds indicate occupation by common giants and their humanlike subjects or slaves around 7600 AS. The name is Asbardian. The peninsula juts into the sea and experiences a rainy, Pallathantic climate much of the year with temperatures very rarely descending below freezing. The hills are very great but gentle and scattered with large rocks thought to have been deposited during the Age of Ice. Natural trees include oaks, pines, black pines, scots pines, juniper, yew, fir, spruce, ash, hazel, and birch. The lands are used to raise agricultural animals, especially sheep, cows, and horses. Crops are principally grains like wheat, barley, rye, and vineyards.
Towns and Villages
There are seventeen specially privileged towns called the Archducal Treasure Towns. The remaining territory is divided into Bryndyd proper, nineteen cities, and the remaining unorganized territory under the direct control of the Governor of Shirdhain Lumeais. These cities are called: Osog-Birniadh, Girgormath, Nemaine, Thraisgues, Glothfeeg, Smichuglisinire, Vademath, Cascaffes, Tirthord, Blescath, Yatle Girt, Trametish, Stremath, Swaifethirn, Willafon, Mewgs, Tularnoch, Fisemath, and Affe-Fisemath. Some unorganized villages include Bhagol Gimfais and Tuthacna Baihersin.
Government
Shirdhain Lumeais is a special tertiary political level division within the Province of Heart-of-Asbardy which is part of the Dominion of Asbardy. Shirdhain Lumeais is a large peninsula comprised of numerous cities. Territory not enclosed in a town is directly part of the Gubernatorial Dominion of Shirdhain Lumeais. Shirdhain Lumeais more or less includes all territory in the peninsula that is not part of Bryndyd. Shirdhain Lumeais enjoys certain tax benefits. The Archducal Treasure Towns are also part of Shirdhain Lumeais and enjoy an even more favorable tax status. The Archduke with the approval of the Diet appoints the governor of the Shirdhain Lumeais. The governor appoints a superintendent to oversee the collection and enforcement of the revenues of the Archducal Treasure Towns.
