The beastfolk, sometimes called the beastmen, are a wild humanlike race most well-known for inhabiting the great forests of northwestern Pytharnia. They are somewhat akin to satyrs and fauns, but greater in size with prominent, spiraling horns on either side of their heads like a great ram or mountain goat. They are sometimes associated with the heraldic symbolic called the musimonius and in artwork, their depiction is called a musimon. Beastfolk often war and sometimes cooperate with the Tuadbe of these woodlands. The Tuadbe in turn have occasion to subject the beastfolk to their dominion through warfare or powerful sorcery. Beastfolk speak the sylvan language of Pytharnia. They form small family groups that occasionally unite into small tribes for protection and to waylay their enemies for slaves and booty.
Outside of Pytharnia, beastfolk are known to inhabit the wilds of northern Danona, the woods of Umbardia, and the great forested wilds of northern Asdauria, including the Great Forest of Khambakhand. They also dwell in forested mountains, such as northern Jaggudorns and the Adamantine Mountains.
