Skerrod
Skerrod is a large island to the east of Barathorn in the Pytharnian Sea. It is considered culturally part of Barathorn. Skerrod has a temperate climate to the south and a nordic climate to the north where it is riven by numerous fjords and inlets carved during the age of ice and fire. The island is separated from Barathorn by the Skerrodese Channel. Its largest neighboring islands are Tula Dovak Island and Zerik Island. Wonderrock Sound to the north separates the island from Midrardia, especially the country of Borondur.
The island has never been unified under a single, local government, although it has been subject to several different empires in its history. Skerrod is politically divided into two states, the Commonwealth of Skerrod which incorporates about two thirds of the southern portion of the island and the Kingdom of Harskavia which is the northern third. The commonwealth holds its capital in Deumonstil. Much of the island is undeveloped forest and mountains which are the habitations of ogres, trolls, and other humanlikes.
Skerrod is an important source of pine timber which it exports throughout the Pallathantic Region.
