The Sea of Malankhas rests about 20º north of the equator.

The Sea of Malankhas rests around 20º north of the equator in the northern hemisphere of the world of Asdar and is mostly within the tropics. The Sea of Malankhas is part of the greater Askonian Ocean. The sea communicates by several straits to other bodies of water, namely by the Strait of Ummak to the Memnosian Sea, by the Strait of Halawjat to the Titans Sea, by the Strait of Lumei to the Chaos Sea, and by the Strait of Ptohlia to the greater Askonian Ocean. The large island of Ptohlia delimits the southwestern bounds of the Sea of Malankhas. The waters in the northern portion of the Sea of Malankhas before it reaches the Strait of Ummak are called the Jukk Sea, named after the Jykki Orcs of Danona.

Much of the Sea of Malankhas has a wet season and a dry season.

The Sea of Malankhas is an important water route that joins Zephasia, Danona, Shagrela'al, and Omre. Ocean barges carry great tonnage through the Sea of Malankha, some voyaging from as far as Sungo and Za-Bahuna through the Grand Canal of Benjalay en route through the Memnosian Sea to the Pallathantic Sea. In historic times and up to the present, the Sea of Malankhas was used by merchants bearing costly goods such as acacia, olibanum, myrrhy, mother-of-pearl, emeralds, exotic woods, Omrekheen talismans and jewelry, and from father abroad, silks, jade, camphor, pearls, and euphorium from Sungo, ivory from Sahimb, salt from the Sea of a Thousand Curses, cardamom from Eurithia, and other spices from Za-Bahuna.
