Baliphut River
The Baliphut River is a major river that drains the westernmost reaches of the land of Erserce. Its source begins in Ebernia south of the Nudestel Sea. The Esdel-Baliphut River is its greatest tributary. The city of Pragusa is one of the largest cities along the course of the Upper Baliphut River. The Baliphut River drains into the Sea of Magdaia and therefore is critical for commerce throughout western Erserce and with northwestern Asdauria, including cities of the Jaggudorns and the Empire of Osfandia. The mouth of the Baliphut River is surrounded by marshland. Heylundia and Stregno are important cities along the shores of the Baliphut River.
History
The economic potential of the Baliphut River created rulers who vied in power with the rulers of the Tayhoyre River basin. Consequently, the land of Erserce was sometimes divided by struggles between the two regions. Today the Baliphut River is celebrated as one of the four great rivers of the Aurician Empire.
