Intrigues of the Late Bijälian Court
A romanticized history with much factual material of the reign of House Bijäl (2574 to 2627), Intrigues of the Late Bijälian Court focuses on the reigns of Vast Bijäl and his fratricidal brother Rhungast Bijäl and the subsequent Aurician Revolution, a period comprising the years 2590 to 2634. Set against the time of Aurice's rise as a colonial and titancraft power, the work is considered essential for students of modern Aurician history. Perevath Chandomiddo wrote the work in the first ten years of the twenty eighth century (2700 to 2710).
The work deals primarily with the Court of the Grand Duke, the widow and concubines of the late Stalcast Bijäl, dealings with the Noble Senate of Aurice, the heirs of Vast and Rhungast, including Rhoglos Bijäl, and important persons of the court such as the wizardmasters, and the execution of Ambrew Tisgonas, 2600 AI. The work discusses briefly Steborn Hallagunst's speculated fatherhood of Kéwb the Benighted. Rhungast's murder of his brother and subsequent accession to power are treated as well as his murder of his nephews, Stalcast II and Bralcast, and his exile of Sulormingue and Chanda the Fair, his father's two concubines, in 2603 to Skaligdæ. Amísbë's Revolution and the exile of Rhoglos Bijäl and the Bijälians in Agogia before the end of the Aurician Revolution are well treated. The work culminates with the Battle of Kadraskan and a discussion about its aftermath for Stallos Bijäl, the son of Rhungast Bijäl who survived and fled into exile to Barathorn as well as other members of the court.
