Schambûlthlaks of the Seeing Eyes
b 2123; d 2261. Reigned, 2178 to 2261. /ˈɧambʊɬaks/ Chaos Ruler of Dúrandwor and sometime vassal to Lord Kualotha of the Groaning Earth, Schambûlthlaks of the Seeing Eyes ruled from an amorphous mass grossly resembling a colossal tree called the Bristle-barbel. He is thought to have been human and then converted steadily into a throelord characterized by numerous eyes spread throughout the surface of his body. Aggrandizing much power through the study of chaos magic and hieratic devotion, Schambûlthlaks underwent a transformation from a human priest-mage of chaos into a tentacled, many-eyed entity with great power, drawn into its own exocosmic reveries and astral voyages. He worshiped the gods Siddu-l’makgi and Ishmût. Schambûlthlaks' court gradually became incoherent and devoid of protocol and his dominion fell into anarchy as his most powerful subjects vied for power over some or all of his dominion. He was slain in the Dúrandworese Isbajath, 2259 to 2261.
Schambûlthlaks was called 'of the seeing eyes' for the presence of several dozen, blinking eyes that arose on his body over a period of several decades. The appearance of eyes on his body is widely regarded as the first sign of the prolonged and irreversible corruption of his body and advancement of his chaos powers. His eyes enabled him to see in all directions. It is surmised from the records of his courtiers and the Dúrandworese Isbajath that Schambûlthlaks was losing the distinctive shape of his body, his gender, and his anchoring in the real world. Despite his perfect vision, Schambûlthlaks spent his waking reveries using his eyes to see into other realms normally invisible to human consciousness.
The Bristle-barbel, the capitol of Schambûlthlaks was thought to be a tree-like throe with numerous tentacles extending from his body. In time his courtiers eventually referred to him as 'it.'
